MaSingLingLuna
The art quartet MSLL (MaSingLingLuna) is developed from Taiwan’s rising art trio MSL (Ma Sing Ling), with a new member joining in in 2016. It is now a group of four talented lady artists: MANIHOO, Singway, Ling Ling, and Luna.
Since its establishment in 2016, MSLL has created many different series, including “Diamond Way”, “Magnificent Wonder World”, “Dragon Eye”, “Content • Bamboo”. “Truly Artful”, “Great Gain.Bamboo”, “The Crane Brings in Happiness”, “Golden Spoon”, and so on. Moreover, with special guidance from Professor Lee Sun-Don, the Art Director of Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.), MSLL also creates in collaboration with Professor Lee, presenting the painting series of “Qi”, “The Floral Scent Dances into the World”,. “The Myriad Sublimity”, “Necessary.Bodhi”, and “Clear Mirror • Image”; and the sculpture series of “A House Full of Gold and Jade”.
Known as “a super-creative art quartet,” MSLL has been creating in various motifs and with diverse media, with oil or acrylic, on conventional canvas, stainless steel, or even cookers, spoons, bowls, white marbles, and the like. What’s more, the leaf from a direct descendant of the sacred Bodhi tree under which Sakyamuni achieved awakening to become the world’s first Buddha has been the source of their inspiration. Their creations have been regularly exhibited in A.R.T., Asia’s iconic art fair inaugurated in 2011. They were also invited to exhibit in a global design and architecture firm Gensler’s Shanghai Office in 2019.
For 2020, MSLL presents four new series. In “The Glory of Coming and Passing” series, with the flying bug coming towards the fallen leaf – one is a living existence, the other passing – the artists bring about a reflection of how coming and passing define each other. They urge us to work out the glory of every coming life, for it is the glory that breaks away from the loop of coming and passing, and leads us to eternity. “The Spiritual Mountain in Sight of Transcendence” is inspired by the Chinese poet Tao Yuan-ming 陶淵明 (365 - 427), in particular his poem of “picking chrysanthemums under the eastern hedge, beholding the Nan Mountain in the distance and at leisure.” It portrays the transcendental poetics of the mountains.
For “Glory and Splendor” and “The Splash of Mind Colors”, they feature the transparency of 3D paint to create the aura of glory, perfection, and joyfulness. The “Glory and Splendor” series uses the flower to portray abundance and nobility, and unpolished simple brushwork to embody the child-like innocence. MSLL believes, with child-like innocence, free from attachment, we are easier to see things as what they really are, which in turn leads us to make right decisions. As to “The Splash of Mind Colors”, it displays the wonder of life and unbridled free mind in hopes of evoking happiness from the viewers.

MANIHOO
Born in 1989, MANIHOO graduated from the College of Art at Chinese Culture University in 2011. She specializes in creating with collage and scrawling in conjunction with multimedia, such as national bank notes and LED lights. She wishes to present a world with modern people’s innocent heart. Her artwork is full of her personal notation and symbols; and her creativity in combining various imageries to tone up the visual effects demonstrates a young generation’s fantasy and mindful observation of the society.
Although young, MANIHOO has partaken in various social roles: student, performer, radio show host, volunteer, Buddhist practitioner, and of course, artist. All of these experiences have become inspirations of her creation and cultivated her ability to empathize with others. In her artworks, one can therefore see a young girl’s maturity and witty sensibility. The art of using money, for example, is made clear in her creation collaged with bank notes issued by various nations. As to her LED-characteristic creations, the idea is to add warmth to transform the icy technology, the LED lights, into an art of glamour, youth, and vitality.
In 2010, MANIHOO was selected as Best of Year by Marziart International Gallery of Germany with her work “Show / Collaboration”. Her interest in “collaboration” has distinguished MANIHOO from many others of her generation who tend to be ego-centric and individualistic. This artwork, as her usual style, conveys a sense of humor and simplification: with abstract color blocks to represent mountains and rivers, this oil painting speaks to her magnanimous worldview. In her “Imperial Seat” series, one can even foresee her ease and ambition for advancing toward the art arena.
In addition to participating in major international art contests, thank to her art agent, the X-Power Galley, MANIHOO has also exhibited in many important art fairs worldwide, including the NEXT of Art Chicago, SCOPE Art Show New York, and Art Palm Beach, just to name a few.
In 2014, MANIHOO was invited to model for the Art of the Trench, an exhibition organized by the international-renowned luxury brand, Burberry, who selected celebrities with distinguished characters to demonstrate the elegances of trench from the arenas of music, art, fashion, film, sports, and the like. MANIHOO is the only artist representing Taiwan to interpret the beauty of trench coats in the local setting.
MANIHOO’s new series in 2019 is “The Lady of Wealth”, in which she uses banknote with birds to add liveliness to the painting. The wealth of a modern lady, she believes, is the knowledge of how to live wisely and at ease.

Singway
Born in 1978 and from a family with both parents as public servants, Singway grew up in a small town in northern Taiwan called Yingge, a place quite famous for ceramic arts and production of pottery and porcelain. Surrounded by pottery-making studios and workshops, Singway had been enjoying watching those craftspeople draw all kinds of image on the ceramic wares. In her childhood years, clay, beautiful mosaics, and junk pottery were her favorite toys and precious collections. She immersed herself in this artistic environment until she left for Taipei for college education.
Singway graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University with a major in philosophy and minor in history. This educational background prepared her for perceiving things always from multiple points of view. Singway first began creating in her early twenties. As an artist, her current endeavor is to employ various media to illustrate her philosophic reflections on the vicissitudes of life or simply the pure and beautiful feeling from her innermost.
She found that many natural objects have their own marks and textures – they are art by themselves. She then directly imprinted the textures of the natural objects on painting paper or canvas and added some finishing touch to bring a new life to it. Her creation with the imprint of wall marks, for example, reveals a unique classical appeal and historical tint. In 2010, she sent her imprinting series to juried competition of Salon d’Automne in Paris for the first time and two of her works, “The wall is a landscape painting” and “beyond the cave” were selected into this hundred-year-old exposition, one of the most influential exhibitions of the world. It is considered a “sacred temple” in the art circles, for many world masters developed their art career from here, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Joan Miró, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Auguste Rodin.
Artistic style is a projection of the artist’s inner world. A sensible and thoughtful inner self can naturally develop into diverse personal styles. After wining the recognition from France’s Salon d’Automne, Singway was not thus content with herself; she continues to explore her inner depths and the outer world. To transform, she completely opens herself to different possibilities and since then has created many stylistically distinctive series. Her “Brushing Wonder” and ”Let’s Play” series blend reality and fantasy with bright and cheerful colors to bring out the liveliness and fun of a child’s imagination residing in everyone of us. The ensuing “Good Word Good World” series puts together Chinese writing scripts and cartoon-like monkey to create an aura of blessing and jolliness.
For 2019, Singway exhibits three different series. In addition to her ever popular “This Is Very Contemporary – The Temple of Edfu”, inaugurated in 2015, she presents two new series: “The Cat on Travel” and “Wealth Plan”. She wishes we can all enjoy spiritual and material wealth. Please join Singway to explore our unlimited mind space.
Singway believes that a female artist, no matter her age, has three souls inside her: child, lady, and woman. Her “Lady and Kitty” series is to capture a young girl’s romantic sentiments – even a woman in her thirties may still wish to put every worldly concerns aside and travel with her darling kitty wherever. And her “Woman • Art of Tactics” is to provide her philosophic thinking of how a woman survives with dignity and even succeeds gracefully in the contemporary society, and the answer to which is offered in her newest series entitled “Dance the Rhythm of the World”. That is, to dance in accord with the rhythmic harmony and balance of the universe – and this gist of balance and harmony is demonstrated in her mastery of the line structure – glossed as “structure energy” – as inscribed on the body of the female dancer.

Ling Ling
Born in 1973 in Xinzhuang of Taipei County in northern Taiwan, Ling Ling graduated from Chungyu Institute of Technology. She embarked on her journey as a photographer when she procured her first digital camera while working in a digital camera company. She began to use camera to record almost everything in her life.
Known as Ling Ling, the emerging artist Teresa Cheng uses monochrome or color photographic images to convey the moments of her life when her heart was touched by the world, through poetic pictures and compositions, in a tone of purity and serenity.
The micro-cosmic view of an ant and the lyrical world of a piano, from the two earliest series by the artist, interweaved to portray the subtlety of the soul. Her works smoothly transmit the delicate feelings and insight of life extracted from people, situations, and objects easily encountered in our everyday life.
“Writing diaries with photos” is how Ling Ling first started photography. With constant practice, she realized that such a technique of “turning moments into eternity” does not only record the appearance of the scene of a moment, but also turn one’s feelings, ideas, and concepts of that moment into an energy that moves the viewers. As the contemporary photographer Annie Leibovitz said: "People buy ideas, they don’t buy photographs."
Ling Ling’s most powerful equipment for creativity is her unique insight of things and values. From different angles her work grasps the beauty of the real world, making "meaning to be visualized" the most significant feature of her work.
In photos taking ants as the subject, Ling Ling zoomed in on the ants as if by magic, giving them vivid expression, emitting the unique brilliance of life. The affectionate world of piano series conveys emotions between people and all things. The serene images hold ample thoughts and sensations. Works out of these two series: “Forever Resonance / For You”, “Forever Resonance / Happy Encounter”, “Ant is Artist / Let’s Dance”, have won in USA the “Solo Exhibition Award in 2010 Personality,” presenting her a rare opportunity of displaying 15 pieces of her works in a small-scale individual exhibition.
“Serene / Awaiting Sunrise”, presenting the beauty of an ordinary scene in the serene atmosphere and the poetic compositions, has won the Honorable Mention Award in USA “2010 International Landscape Art Contest” and in the “43rd E.A. International Salon of Photography – HK”. In July, Ling Ling’s work was selected to exhibit in UK “2010 Cork Street Open Exhibition” known for discovering emerging artists. Situated behind the British Royal Academy of Arts, Cork street is dominated by top art galleries. Cork street in London is like SoHo in New York, and Champs Elysées in Paris. "Cork Street Open Award Exhibition" is a stage set up annually for discovering emerging artists.
In 2019, Ling Ling develops the series of “Treasure Bowl”. She uses three elements -- butterfly (a symbol of fortune), lotus (an icon for flourishing), and antique coins -- to create the dimensional “treasure bowl”. She believes that creativity is more than ideas; it involves also diverse forms of expression.

Luna Chen
Luna graduated in Fine Art at the Academy of Art University.
Under a prolonged exposure to an artistic atmosphere with her parents working in the interior design business, Luna likes to draw since her childhood and often participates in drawing contests. Being eager to try something innovative, she took various classes to learn pastel, watercolor and ink painting, as well as piano, Zheng zither and dancing; which builds a sound foundation for her arts.
After finished her junior high school, she went to study alone in Nova Scotia, Canada. She has learned quite a lot from her study in foreign countries. Although she did not major in Painting, she still draws from time to time. After being admitted to the Health Science Department of Simon Fraser University, her study was something dissimilar to arts.
During that time, she felt so lost about the future. Then she met her mentor who told her that the beautiful life is to be engaged in something you love. This makes her resolutely to pursuit for her love in arts; based on this concept, she experiences, appreciates and expresses the wonder of life. Now Luna studies in the Fine Art at Academy of Art University, starting off her further exploration to arts.
In her first oil painting series -- “Colorful Flower on Snowtree”, the theme is the boreal birches, symbolizing her life story about studying abroad. The colorful spring sprouts on branches represent Luna’s love and vivid memories about her homeland. To Luna, a tree, being rooted deep in the earth, is a symbol of solidity, just like a person who stands firmly on the ground. That’s why she uses “tree” as a core symbol for her first series, implying her first thought about art creation: self-discovering.
Luna’s 2018 series is “The Fun of Zoo”, with which she illustrates the joy our animal friends bringing to us.
Luna likes the vitality deriving from distinct and full colors, and to bring out the wellbeing to viewers by integrating romantic fairy tales around the world. During her painting process, her illuminating teacher Mr. Lee Sun-Don’s totemic energy paintings invoke her interests in signs and symbols. She also infuses her impressions from her painstaking efforts in learning multiple languages. From a child-like point of view, Luna transforms her curiosities toward the world into interesting images.
